Anyone with a UNM netid can create, own, and publish a web site — this includes faculty, students, staff, organizations and departments. Review our Support Level Details for more information. Our cPanel service offering allows UNM departments and clubs to almost instantly obtain a website.

Please note:  If you are requesting a department or club website through cPanel, you must first login to CAS with a department or club ( not your own personal) netid to request an account. You also need access to the netid's email account to complete the account request process. Learn more about Department and Club netids.

Service Description

cPanel web hosting is provided by UNM IT for Departments and organizations to host their static-content web pages. IT recommends the use of Cascade Web Content Management for creating their site’s contents, but other CMS tools can be used. cPanel is not recommended for custom-coded web-enabled applications. cPanel should not be used to store protected data of any category. cPanel sites are not approved to collect FERPA or other PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data.

If these service levels don’t meet your web hosting needs, please contact your local area’s IT resources or IT Officer to discuss alternative options.

Service Level 1: Cherry/Cascade

This level is intended for site managers publishing their sites using Cascade Server, UNM’s supported Web Content Management System (WCMS). The feature set is minimal since all customization is managed in Cascade and pushed to cPanel.

Service Level 2: Silver/WebCMS

This level is intended for site managers wishing to use WordPress or Drupal as a Web Content Management System (WCMS). These will require automatic updates using Softaculous – WordPress ToolKit, and will provide a minimum set of PHP and MySQL tools. Please note: IT does not provide extensive support on WordPress, Drupal, or any other WCMS.
